Learning at Heart of the Forest
The curriculum has been designed with HoF pupils at the front and centre of its intent and implementation. Pupils at HoF follow a curriculum that is aspirational in scope, providing breadth and depth to learning that is mapped out sequentially to equip pupils with the skills and knowledge to prepare them for each stage of learning and for life beyond school. Through the visual representation of the curriculum (age phases, maps and sequence wheels) pupils are equipped, where possible, with agency and an awareness of their learning journey. The curriculum is implemented through three pathways. Each pathway follows a curriculum model, which ensures learning is tailored to the needs and age of each pupil. Whilst learning is mapped out sequentially and has clear endpoints to ensure knowledge and skills are built incrementally and progressively, each curriculum model is designed to facilitate pathway learning. This ensures that those pupils who learn in a non-linear direction have a curriculum model appropriate to the way they process information and acquire skills and knowledge.
